Boxing Day Internet Shoppers Break Online Sales Record

2nd January 2013

Online shopping figures are estimated to have risen by as much as 30% over the Christmas period, with Boxing Day shoppers making 113 million visits to online retailers – a new British record. Figures supplied by the market data firm, Experian, suggest that Boxing Day sales increased by 17% on last year, whilst Christmas Eve online shopping rates saw an astronomical rise of 86%, as a host of internet retailers took the decision to start their sales early.

In addition to the growing faith of consumers in online spending, the huge increase in internet sales is thought to be due to financial pressures encouraging shoppers to seek out better bargains.
