Snowfall Expected to Cause Nationwide Parcel Delivery Delays

18th January 2013

Parcel collection and delivery delays are expected across the whole of the UK today, as last night’s heavy snowfall caused road closures nationwide, with Wales, the South and West of England and the Scottish Highlands being the worst affected areas. The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for most parts of Britain, with a “red” weather warning being issued to Wales.

As a result of the treacherous weather conditions, UK parcel carriers have warned of the likelihood of parcel delivery delays, with some companies explaining that parcels not able to be delivered today will have to be held at their parcel depots until delivery can be reattempted at the weekend. However, the disruption looks set to continue into next week, as weather forecasts predict that there will be more snow settling throughout the day. So far, few parcel deliveries have taken place in Wales, Hampshire and Dorset, with several roads being impassable, trains being cancelled and some airports having to close.
